Autopsy: Inmate’s death resulted from natural causes

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) – 78-year-old inmate, James Hoover, who died at a holding facility last week succumbed to natural causes related to pre-existing health conditions, according to autopsy results.

James Hoover was found in medical distress in his cell on June 6 and pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts by staff.

An autopsy was conducted on June 9.

Hoover was under medical observation at the time of the incident, and a nurse responded during the emergency, according to Sgt. Cody Windbigler.
