Avoid Facebook Marketplace scams

(KBSI) – The Better Business Bureau of Eastern and Southwest Missouri and Southern Illinois has some tips to avoid scams when selling on Facebook marketplace.

The scam involves a buyer expressing interest in a sale and asking the seller to give his/her phone number.

The buyer then uses the phone number to create a fraudulent Google Voice account to scam others.

The BBBbsuggests limiting sharing your personal info online. Be extra careful when selling or buying big ticket items.

Also, be sure to report the account as a scam to Facebook.
