Back-to-school sales time is a big time to save during inflation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Back-to-school sale signs are going up and now may be the best time to get the important items you need, but with inflation, everyday prices are going up.

But local businesses like Rhea Lana are offering deals to try to help out a bit.

Rhea Lana owner April Coleman says her business back-to-school sale is going on from July 24- 29.

“So, we have great deals throughout the store for back-to-school and when you shop here, you’re helping these local families get some extra cash for back-to-school as well,” said Coleman.

The items are brought in by local members and marked down 60 to 90 percent. Every item that is bought is paid back to the person who brought them in. Giving people a way to make some extra money and others to find cheaper items.

“We had over around 13,000 items brought to the store by local consignors, moms and dads, that needed to consign some items so they are here in the store,” said Coleman.

With the consumer price index rising to 9.06 percent over last summer, parents are looking for more cost-friendly options.

“If you’re looking for the cheaper options if you’re wanting name brand clothing good toys home essentials it’s always a good opportunity to come out and look its consignment shops,” said Howell.

“Everything is so expensive right now gas is expensive having kids is expensive and so we offer an option for some affordable clothing,” said Coleman.

While the clothes are cheaper, they are checked for quality to give the parents their money’s worth and put expenses aside for other things.

“So instead of spending all of your money on children’s clothing you can spin it at making memories with your kids and having that extra money to do fun things kids won’t remember what they’re wearing but they will remember those times you spend with them,” said Coleman.
