PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) – Taylor Hughes, RN, a critical care nurse at Baptist Health Paducah, has been named the hospital’s latest DAISY Award recipient.

The DAISY Award is an international program that recognizes nurses for exceptional clinical skills and compassionate care. It was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 from an auto-immune disease. His family created the award to honor the nurses who cared for him and to thank nurses worldwide.

As a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, Baptist Health Paducah presents the award quarterly to one nurse. Hughes was nominated by the family of a patient, who praised her for her kindness, compassion and ability to clearly explain test results, care options and outcomes.

“Taylor took the time to patiently and skillfully explain results and options, as well as help to formulate a plan of action going forward,” the nomination read. “In my opinion, Taylor is the epitome of what DAISY Awards are intended for.”
