Baptist Health Paducah hosts 9th annual pre-med academy

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Baptist Health Paducah has welcomed 27 college students to its ninth annual Pre-Med Academy, an eight-week program providing hands-on experience in various medical fields.

Students from nine colleges, including Auburn University and the University of Kentucky, will shadow physicians and healthcare providers in departments such as cardiology, neurology, and pediatrics.

The paid program requires students to work 24-32 hours weekly. To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least one semester of college with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The academy aims to assist students in developing their future medical careers by providing valuable experience and mentoring relationships with healthcare providers.
