FOX23 News at 9 p.m.
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Baptist Health Paducah is offering dedicated appointments for low-dose lung cancer screenings Nov. 13 in recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
Screenings will be available by appointment from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Baptist Imaging Center, 2501 Kentucky Ave.
Low-dose CT scans can detect lung cancer before symptoms develop, when it may be easier to treat, according to the hospital.
To qualify for the screening event, participants must:
– Be ages 50 to 80 with private insurance or 50 to 77 with Medicare.
– Have a smoking history of at least 20 pack-years, equivalent to smoking one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years.
– Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.
– Have no signs or symptoms of lung cancer, such as recent weight loss, persistent hoarseness or an ongoing cough.
The hospital describes the screening as a quick, noninvasive exam.
