Bargain hunters come out for 100 Mile Yard Sale

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – Bargains line the long stretch of Highway 25 between Ja

ckson and Kennett this weekend.

Whether you are a buyer or seller, the yard sale is an exciting event.

“I absolutely love the 100 mile yard sale because I get to interact with hundreds of people sometimes thousands of people and we wheel, we deal, we bargain,” said Lonnie Chapman, organizer for Mercy Hill Church Yard Sale in Jackson.

“This is the first time we’ve actually sold in it,” said Michael Proctor. “We know it’s a big thing every year and we’re doing really well at it. I’m a contractor for the bank, so I take care of foreclosed homes. So when we have clean outs and stuff we get to keep a lot of the antique furniture, and we find a lot of glassware. Apparently a lot of people like that stuff. So we’re doing real well, specially for it being the first day.”

Some people on the other hand find the yard sale to be their least favorite time of year. With built up traffic on Hwy. 25, cars parked alongside the road and adults and children crossing the highway, it can make for a dangerous situation.

Jackson city police urge drivers to use caution and keep a lookout for anyone who may be crossing the busy highway.
