Barkley Regional Airport launches pledge campaign to boost local air travel

WEST PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — Barkley Regional Airport is encouraging residents and businesses across the Purchase Region to support local air service through a new initiative called the Fly Barkley Pledge.
The program asks travelers to consider using Barkley Regional Airport first when planning trips. Airport officials said the initiative is intended to demonstrate measurable community support as the airport begins offering new United Express service operated by SkyWest Airlines.
The airport now offers daily nonstop flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, providing connections to more than 270 destinations worldwide through United’s network.
Airport officials said airlines closely monitor passenger demand and booking trends when deciding whether to maintain or expand service. Choosing to fly from Barkley Regional Airport rather than driving to other airports helps support the long-term sustainability of local air service.
The pledge is available to both individuals and businesses. Participants who sign the pledge receive a digital badge and updates about the program’s impact.
Airport leaders said strong local support can help boost regional economic growth, tourism and business recruitment while improving access to national and international destinations.
Residents and businesses can take the pledge online through the airport’s website.
