BBB to honor three businesses, Jackson student at ethics awards luncheon

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Three businesses and a Jackson High School student will be recognized during the Better Business Bureau Cape Girardeau’s Torch Awards for Ethics luncheon Sept. 24.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at Monarch 55. Bug Zero, Graham Auto Service and the room. Hair Design Studio will receive Torch Awards for Ethics. Emma J. Pylate of Jackson High School will receive the Student of Ethics Award and a $2,500 scholarship.
“The Torch Awards for Ethics are meant to shine a light on businesses and students who are truly going above and beyond when it comes to ethical behavior,” said Raechel Cantoni, BBB Cape Girardeau regional director. “We’re excited to honor them with these awards, and grateful for all they’ve done to benefit our community and local marketplace.”
James Caldwell of Southeast Missouri State University will deliver the keynote address.
Bug Zero, a family-owned pest control company established in 1990, has operated its Cape Girardeau office since 2009. The company employs four full-time entomologists and uses a targeted approach to pest control, according to BBB.
“We are incredibly honored to receive the BBB Torch Award for Ethics. This recognition belongs to our entire Bug Zero team and reinforces something we’ve always believed: That doing the right thing, taking care of our clients by earning their trust, is the foundation of our business,” said Chris Horrell, owner and manager.
Graham Auto Service, a third-generation family-owned repair shop in Sikeston, has served customers since 1970. BBB recognized the business for its commitment to quality repairs, transparent pricing and customer service.
“When you have a team with great morals and same goals, at the end of the day it’s a better business both for us and for our customers,” owner Adam Graham said.
The room. Hair Design Studio in Cape Girardeau will receive its second Torch Award for Ethics after previously winning in 2020. The salon offers haircuts, coloring, waxing, styling and bridal services and provides ongoing education for its stylists.
“Receiving the BBB Torch Award for the second time is such a validating experience. It’s an honor to be recognized not only for what we have accomplished, but for the integrity behind how we have accomplished it,” owner Kanaan Rhodes said.
