Belle Rive man facing charges after shooting investigation

BELLE RIVE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Belle Rive man faces charges after sheriff’s deputies say he fired a handgun.
Thursday, April 25, sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at 7:42 p.m. involving a gun fired at 1415 N. Abbott Lane in Belle Rive.
Officers from the Mt. Vernon Police Department and troopers with the Illinois State Police responded to assist.
Deputies interviewed parties involved, witnesses and collected evidence to include the alleged handgun that was used.
Stepfon NL Smith, 27, faces charges of aggravated use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await his pre-trial detention hearing.
