Benefit planned for children who lost both parents

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (KBSI) – A tragedy that left two children without their parents is uniting a community as it hosts a benefit event.

On January 6, 2023, an alleged murder-suicide left the Aumiller children without their mother and father.

Matt Bolser, a community member and event organizer, who went to school with the children’s father and who met the children’s mother, says he saw the news and his heart said he needed to do something for the kids.

“We post on social media. Then I talked about creating the benefit, people were saying, ‘Well, if you have a silent auction let me know and we’ll donate some items to the silent auction.’ All the proceeds go towards the children,” said Bolser.

Counseling is one area in which Bolser and others are pursuing for the kids.

“We’re looking at getting the children any kind of counseling that they would need for the rest of their lives, which is, I believe, going to be provided by Integrated Health,” he said.  “But that we’re looking to raise funds just so that the therapists or counselors in our provided funds to do that, to provide that support. And then, also we’re looking at trying to set up a trust fund for the children so that they can access, you know, throughout time later on down the road.”

The benefit event will have music from 12 different artists, food trucks, and a silent auction.

The event will be a Pavillion Event in Marion, Ill., from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26.
