Benton, IL man charged with threatening public official

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A Benton, Ill. man faces threatening a public official charges after a threat was made to an Illinois Department of Children and Family Services employee.

Shawn R. Gilbreath, 33, of Benton faces two counts of threatening a public official (Class 3 felony).

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies received information on Wednesday, February 7 concerning a threat made to an Illinois Department of Children and Family Services employee.

The threat was in connection to an ongoing investigation.

Detectives investigated threat and found Gilbreath.

He was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
