Benton man arrested after early morning high-speed chase

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations on Hwy 80E at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Feb. 21, 2025.

The vehicle fled, disregarding the deputy’s lights and siren, and reached excessive speeds during a 15-minute pursuit.

The suspect vehicle eventually turned onto a closed road and was unable to escape. The driver, Barry C. Jones, 62, of Benton, Ky., attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.

Jones was found to have outstanding warrants and was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility on charges including:

— Fleeing or evading police, 1st degree (Class C felony)
— Resisting arrest
— Traffic violations
— Parole violation warrant
— Failure to comply with sex offender registry warrant
