MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A Benton man was arrested following a single-vehicle rollover crash late New Year’s Day in Graves County, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at about 11:08 p.m. Jan. 1 to a reported injury rollover crash in the 8000 block of Kentucky 58 East. Investigators determined that Christian Kaler, 25, was driving westbound in a black Nissan SUV when the vehicle left the roadway, crossed a private driveway and struck a guy wire attached to an electrical pole. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn onto its side.

Kaler exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot before deputies arrived, authorities said. A search perimeter was established, and Kaler was later located and taken into custody.

He was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of possible minor injuries. After being medically cleared, Kaler was taken to Graves County Restricted Custody and later lodged in an out-of-county detention facility.

Kaler was charged with DUI, second offense; leaving the scene of an accident; and criminal mischief.

The crash was investigated by Deputy Austin Ramage with assistance from Deputy Andrew Prusaczyk, Kentucky State Police, Graves County Emergency Management and Mayfield/Graves County EMS.
