MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — Gov. Andy Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear visited CFSB in Mayfield on Monday to announce a new radio and communication system that will be used by Kentucky State Police Post 1, the Mayfield Police Department, the Mayfield Fire Department/EMS and the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the upgraded system will allow for seamless, more efficient communication among agencies.
Beshear emphasized the importance of strong coordination, referencing the 2021 tornado that struck Mayfield four years ago on Dec. 10. He noted that the community demonstrated “the best of the best during the worst of the worst.”
Major David Archer of Kentucky State Police echoed the governor’s remarks, saying improved communication “saves time, and time saves lives.”
CFSB served as the region’s Emergency Operations Center following the December 2021 tornado, where federal, state and local responders coordinated recovery efforts.
