FRANKFORT, Ky., (KBSI) — Andy Beshear and the Kentucky State Police are encouraging residents to support Special Olympics athletes through the annual “Cover the Cruiser” fundraising campaign.

The statewide event runs April 9–17 and benefits Special Olympics Kentucky.

During the campaign, participants can donate at least $1 to place a sticker on a Kentucky State Police cruiser as a show of support for athletes competing in the upcoming Summer Games. Proceeds go directly to Special Olympics Kentucky.

KSP posts across the state will host events, allowing residents to meet troopers and connect with athletes.

Officials said the campaign has raised more than $75,000 since its launch in 2020, including more than $8,000 in 2025.

The funds support the Special Olympics Kentucky Summer Games, set to take place at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

Organizers said the effort helps provide sports training and competition opportunities for thousands of athletes across the commonwealth.
