Black Friday deals kick off Shop Small Saturday in Old Town Cape
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Shop Small Saturday begins Nov. 26 and the best gift you can give local businesses is your support.
Along with investing your support, some shops even offer a goody bag or small token of appreciation to their customers.
Mississippi Mutts on Broadway in Cape Girardeau is giving away a sweet treat to some lucky puppies for the event.
“It helps a lot,” said Barb Folker, manager of Mississippi Mutts. “It shows people the different things everybody has on sale, for Small Business Saturday. We have swag bags, it shows people they can shop local, and get something more for their money.”
Belle Ever After Boutique is also getting into the spirit of the Black Friday shopping experience, preparing for Satruday’s Shop Small Saturday.
“We put our money back into the community,” said Katessa Dame, the manager of Belle Ever After Boutique. “We get involved with the community. All the parades and just the events going on downtown and everything and we get to give back to our community. So Shop Small is just a way to show us, you know, support your local business, so you can keep them in business and keep coming back to them, and small business is just different from big box stores because you get that one-on-one attention that you don’t get from those big box stores. That’s what we’re all about customer service.”
So, when you shop locally, those local businesses reinvest those profits at the local level, including events or sponsoring local teams in the community. All in all, it helps the local merchants thrive a bit more.
