Boat sinks in Dunklin County after launching without drain plug; MDC reminding boaters of safety precautions

DUNKLIN COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding boaters to inspect their vessels and safety equipment after a boat sank in Little River Conservation Area last week.

Conservation agents Eric Heuring and Brian Shelton responded to the incident, which occurred when the boat was launched without a drain plug.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and the vessel was quickly removed from the water with the help of a local towing service.

The department is urging boaters to check their drain plugs, inspect their boats and safety equipment, and review emergency plans before heading out on the water.
