Body found in Mississippi River in Carlisle County
CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found floating in the Mississippi River near Carlisle County, Kentucky on Sunday.
Carlisle County E911 received a distressing report from the US Coast Guard about a possible body floating in the Mississippi River on Sunday, August 4.
Given the uncertainty of the exact location, neighboring agencies in Hickman County, Fulton County, and Ballard County were notified to ensure a swift and coordinated response.
The Carlisle County Rescue Squad, the Carlisle County coroner, Sheriff Eric Perry, Carlisle County EMS and Carlisle County EMA responded to the area.
Rescue Squad members found the body just inside the Missouri waterways and secured it after a request from Missouri authorities.
The scene has been turned over to Missouri authorities.
