Body of missing boater recovered from Kentucky Lake

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — The body of 51-year-old Steve Simpkins was recovered from Kentucky Lake on Monday, two days after he was reported missing.

Simpkins was reported to have fallen overboard on June 14. Multiple local and state agencies resumed search and recovery operations Monday morning.

A fisherman reported seeing a body in the water near the opening of Blood River around 2 p.m. Emergency responders confirmed the discovery and recovered Simpkins’ remains.

The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies involved in the search effort offered condolences to Simpkins’ family.

The successful recovery effort was attributed to the strength of local partnerships and the dedication of emergency personnel.
