Body of missing Illinois man found near rural home

SPARTA, Ill., (KBSI) — Authorities in Randolph County say a 65-year-old man reported missing Sunday has been found dead near his rural home.

Curtis Scott Sheeler’s body was discovered Tuesday morning on an adjacent property on Rosewood Lane.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office had launched a search effort after Sheeler’s family reported him missing. The search involved multiple agencies, including local fire departments and emergency management teams.

The cause of Sheeler’s death is still under investigation by the county coroner’s office and sheriff’s office.
