CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — The Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office recovered a body from the Mississippi River on the morning of Feb. 24 after being notified by the United States Coast Guard of a possible sighting near the Caruthersville Bridge.

Authorities said a commercial vessel first located the body of a white male wearing dark clothing in the river near Caruthersville. Deputies recovered the body a short time later.

The remains were transported to the Pemiscot County morgue by Pemiscot County Coroner Brian Irions. After examination by investigators from Pemiscot and New Madrid counties, the man was identified as Camden Nicholas Allgier.

Allgier had been reported missing to the New Madrid Police Department on Dec. 26, 2025.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday to determine the cause and manner of death.

In a statement, Sheriff Joey Higgerson said the discovery brings closure to the Allgier family, who had been searching for their loved one.

Authorities thanked the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, Pemiscot County Coroner’s Office, the U.S. Coast Guard and the commercial boat crew involved in the recovery.
