MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — A precautionary boil water order has been issued for two properties on Veterans Memorial Drive following maintenance on the city’s water distribution system.
According to the City of Mt. Vernon, the order went into effect at 8:45 a.m. Thursday and is expected to remain in place for approximately 48 hours.
The boil water order affects the following addresses:
- 4117 Veterans Memorial Drive
- 4121 Veterans Memorial Drive
City officials said the advisory was issued as a precaution because changes in water pressure during maintenance can disturb sediment in water mains. There is no confirmed contamination of the water supply at this time.
Residents in the affected area are advised to boil water before drinking, cooking or brushing their teeth until water quality testing is completed and the order is lifted.
For additional information, residents can contact the city’s water department at 618-242-6851.
