Boil water order issued for parts of Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — City officials have issued a boil water order for portions of Fairway Drive, Homestead, Lakewood Place and Edgewood Drive.

The order took effect at 1:10 p.m. Feb. 26 and is expected to remain in place for approximately 48 hours.

The affected area includes the west side of Fairway Drive from Edgewood to Homestead, 10 Homestead, 2003 Northwood Place, 12524 E. Lakewood Drive and all of Edgewood Drive.

City officials said the advisory was issued as a precaution due to maintenance on the water distribution system. Changes in water pressure can disturb sediment in water mains. There is no confirmed contamination at this time.

Residents in the affected area are advised to boil water until testing is completed and the order is lifted.
