Bollinger County Sheriff’s deputies arrest sex offender who absconded

BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Bollinger County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man wanted for being a sex offender who absconded.

On Friday, May 5 around 8 a.m., deputies with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving by Michael Long.

A deputy identified Long as the driver of the vehicle and was aware that he had a no bond parole warrant for being a sex offender who had absconded.

After a brief foot chase, deputies arrested Long with help from a private citizen.

Long was taken back to the Missouri Department of Corrections where he remains in custody.

Formal felony charges were forwarded to the Bollinger County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

An arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday, May 17 for possession of a controlled substance – felony, resisting arrest – felony, and failure to register as a sex offender – felony.

The warrant comes with a bond of $25,000 cash only.

Bollinger County Sheriff Casey A. Graham thanked the private citizen who helped deputies detain Long.
