Bootheel Rodeo parade in downtown Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo parade took place Saturday, August 3 in downtown Sikeston.

“I think its, its a great opportunity for this little town,” said resident Shelly Duncan.

The downtown area filled with people and vendors as they watched floats drive by promoting the rodeo.

I think it’s a really good time to bring everyone out and then you bring all this extra like they’ve got the barbecue place, the Italian ice,” said Duncan. “Tthey’ve got something with the pigs for the kids. They’ve got the farmers market downtown and then just look at everybody.”

She says even with a reduced number of floats the parade is still a great place to bring people together.

Stephanie Summers says its a great way to spend time with family and friends in Sikeston.

“I like the Sikeston rodeo parade and it’s fun,” said Summers. “I like to see it and everything.”

Duncan says this annual event can really help Sikeston grow.

“I mean, you just bring all these people out and everybody comes together,” said Duncan.
