Bost responds to audit of St. Louis Postal Processing Center
WASHINGTON (KBSI) — U.S. Rep. Mike Bost, R-Ill., said an audit of the St. Louis postal processing center confirms widespread problems that have caused delivery delays and substandard service in Southern Illinois.
The audit, released by the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General, found issues including staffing shortages, poor supervisor oversight and inadequate machine maintenance.
“The findings of this audit validate the frustrations of the people in my district,” Bost said. “I’m thankful the Trump administration conducted the audit and demanded accountability.”
The audit included 12 recommendations to restore timely and reliable service, which the Postal Service has agreed to implement by January.
Bost had requested the audit due to ongoing complaints from constituents about delivery delays, lost packages and poor service.
