BREAKING: Shots fired near Southeast Missouri State University, Police Investigating

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI)- Southeast Missouri State University issued a public safety alert at 5:58 p.m. today after multiple shots were fired near campus.

Nearly seven shots were fired with no injuries reported.

Two black males, both wearing jeans, one in an orange shirt and one in a green shirt are considered suspects.

Two witnesses reported seeing the men with a gun. Last seen in the creek area behind Village on the Green.

Police are actively investigating. Residents advised to remain vigilant.

A recent incident of shots fired near Southeast Missouri State University marks the second reported gun activity in just over two months.

On September 11th, police responded to shots fired, resulting in a female victim being shot in the leg. She was found at Rally’s near the apartments.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding either case to come forward.
