RIPLEY COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A Broseley man has been charged in connection with the death of a Naylor resident following an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

According to a patrol news release, the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance April 13 to investigate a suspicious death in the 600 block of Route B in Naylor. The victim was identified as Robert D. Manns, 71, of Naylor.

Investigators followed several leads, including locating the victim’s missing truck at a residence in Poplar Bluff. Authorities made contact with the victim’s son, Dustin D. Manns, 44, of Broseley, at the residence and transported him to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Officials said additional evidence obtained during the investigation connected Dustin Manns to the death. He was arrested and initially held on an investigative hold.

On April 14, the Ripley County Prosecuting Attorney charged Manns with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, abandonment of a corpse, stealing a motor vehicle and tampering with a motor vehicle. He is being held without bond.

The Division of Drug and Crime Control thanked the Ripley and Butler County sheriff’s offices for their assistance.

Authorities noted the charges are allegations, and Manns is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
