Buckner man arrested in West City traffic stop; Meth seized

WEST CITY, Ill., (KBSI) — A Buckner man was arrested early Wednesday after a traffic stop in West City led to the discovery of methamphetamine, according to the Illinois State Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 1 a.m., an Illinois State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop and requested K9 assistance. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office K9 Stryker and his handler arrived, and the dog gave a positive alert during a free air sniff around the vehicle.
A subsequent search produced a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
The driver, identified as Randall J. Stanton Jr., 47, of Buckner, was taken into custody and charged with:
Possession of Methamphetamine 15-100 grams (Class 1 Felony)
Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (Class X Felony)
Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony)
Stanton was transported to the Franklin County Jail, where he remains in custody. Authorities emphasized that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
