FANCY FARM, Ky., (KBSI) — A man with an extensive criminal history was arrested Thursday morning after deputies found him hiding inside a business near Fancy Farm.
The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said the business owner on Stahr Road near Kentucky Highway 121 North reported a possible burglary in progress after reviewing surveillance video. The footage showed a man entering the business through a loading dock but never leaving.
Sheriff Jon Hayden was the first officer on scene and located the suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Joshua K. Davis, hiding in a storage area where he had covered himself with items to avoid detection. He was taken into custody with assistance from Kentucky State Police Trooper Justin Fox and Sgt. Richard Edwards of the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said Davis had recently been released from Ballard County Jail after serving a three-year burglary sentence and had been traveling south on Highway 121 since his release Sept. 30. A bicycle believed to have been stolen during his travels was recovered behind the business.
Davis, who has prior convictions for burglary, promoting contraband, flagrant nonsupport and terroristic threatening in multiple counties, was charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
He was taken to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office before being transported to an out-of-county detention facility.
