Burn ban lifted in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) — The burn ban in Franklin County has been lifted, according to local officials, allowing residents to resume outdoor burning under certain restrictions.
The City of Zeigler Fire Department announced the update, reminding residents that while the countywide ban is no longer in effect, local ordinances still regulate what can be burned.
Officials say only natural materials — such as leaves and untreated tree wood — are permitted. Burning other materials, including trash or treated wood, remains illegal within the department’s response district.
Violators could face fines of up to $250 for burning prohibited materials.
Fire officials urge residents to use caution when burning outdoors.
