Bus driver, 1 student taken to hospital after crash near Creal Springs

CREAL SPRINGS, Ill. (KBSI) – A bus driver and a one student were taken to a hospital after a school bus crash Tuesday afternoon in rural Creal Springs.
Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a school bus crash in the 13000 block of Sulpher Springs Road in rural Creal Springs at 3:16 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20.
Deputies found the school bus driver had lost control of the bus after suffering an apparent medical episode.
The bus had five children, the bus driver and an assistant on it.
The bus left the roady and traveled through a ditch, coming to rest after striking a tree.
The bus driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for medical treatment.
One child was taken by ambulance to an area hospital out of an abundance of caution, according to deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office
“This incident found law enforcement, EMS, Adam’s School Personnel, and Illinois Central school bus personnel working together on scene. I am thankful no one was seriously injured,” said Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich.
The remaining children were taken to Adam’s School and reunited with their parents.
Lake of Egypt Fire, Illinois State Police and United EMS assisted Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies.
