CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI)— Amtrak passengers traveling between Carbondale and Champaign on the Saluki route will be transported by bus on weekdays in October because of railroad work, according to the city of Carbondale.
Canadian National Railway is conducting work on tracks north of Carbondale. Saluki train service between the two cities will operate only on weekends during the month, the city said.
The weekday bus service will change departure and arrival times from the regular train schedule. Weekend travel is expected to remain unaffected.
According to the city, the transportation change is not currently flagged during online booking. After passenger’s book tickets, an Amtrak agent will email information about modifying reservations, rebooking trips or requesting a full refund.
Passengers can contact Amtrak at 800-872-7245. To speak with a representative, callers can say “operator” when prompted by the automated system.
