Butler County EMA preparing for possible flooding; bringing in help from Arkansas
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) – Butler County emergency management agency is preparing for possible flooding this week and bringing in help from Arkansas.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District was in Poplar Bluff Wednesday afternoon where they used their automated sandbagging machine to fill bags. They said with dry sand their machine can fill up to 1,000 bags an hour.
Butler County EMA officials said the efforts were cut short Wednesday, due to severe weather. For that reason, the sand bags are not yet being distributed.
Officials will be releasing more information once they have enough bags filled to start distributing them.
