Tragic house explosion in Butler County claims two lives

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A devastating explosion occurred in Butler County, Missouri, on October 4, 2024, resulting in the loss of two lives.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, the blast happened at 8:53 a.m. at a residence near Highway 53 and Butler County Road 605.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, including:

Unfortunately, crews discovered the bodies of two victims, identified as siblings Diana Baker, 77, and Danny Batchelor, 66, according to Butler County Coroner Jim Akers.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud boom at the time of the explosion, which is believed to have involved a propane tank, though the exact cause remains unclear.
