Cadiz, Ky. woman dead, IL man faces charge of murder

CADIZ, Ky. (KBSI) – A Cadiz woman is dead and an Illinois man is charged with murder in Trigg County.

Harold F. Jett, 48, of Taylorsville, Ill. faces charges of murder and burglary 2nd degree. He also faces additional charges related to a police chase in Trigg County.

An autopsy was conducted on Mary V. Dullenty on Saturday October 16 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Louisville, Ky. The cause of death was declared to be blunt force trauma.

On Oct. 14, just after noon, Trigg County Dispatch notified Kentucky State Police of an assault on Hilltop Street in Cadiz.

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Department received a call about Jett firing a shot at a vehicle on South Road in Cadiz. Deputies with the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department and officers with the Cadiz Police Department attempted to make contact with Jett who fled in a vehicle. The chase led to Hilltop Street where Jett entered a home. A short time later, Jett left the home and was taken into police custody. After detaining Jett, deputies found 71-year-old Mary V. Dullenty of Cadiz, Ky. who was injured inside the home. Dullenty was taken to Trigg County Hospital where she died.

Jett is being held at the Christian County Jail. Kentucky State Police continue to investigate.
