Cairo man facing assault charge in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Cairo man faces charges an aggravated assault charge in Carbondale.

Henry C. Davis, 66, of Cairo, faces a charge of aggravated assault.

Carbondale police officers responded to the 600 block of North Illinois Avenue at 1:29 a.m. on Friday, September 6 regarding a report of an assault.

Officers say the suspect was chasing and tried to stab the victim in the roadway.

A public alert was sent out due to a large police presence in the area.

An investigation revealed that it stemmed from a personal dispute between the victim and the suspect.

Police say Davis received a non-life-threatening injury when he was struck by a vehicle while he was chasing the victim in the roadway.

Davis was taken by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment.

The victim was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Davis was released pending a court appearance.
