Call for entries for annual student art contest in KY

(KBSI) – Entries for the annual Adopt-A-Highway art contest for Kentucky school students are now being accepted for 2023.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is hosting the contest. The theme for this year’s contest is Can it, Kentucky!
The contest is open to students enrolled in public, private or home school and due Oct. 20, 2023. The entry form, evaluation, criteria and other information can be found at transportation.ky.gov.
KYTC will divide the contest into four age groups: 5-8, 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18. Winners of each age group will receive a $100 gift card for first place and a $50 gift card for second and third place. In addition, first through third place winners will see their artwork featured on KYTC’s social media and their prints displayed at Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Frankfort.
This contest has been held to “increase environmental awareness among children, educate the public about the harmful effects of litter, and encourage behaviors that promote a clean environment,” according to the KYTC website.
