Calloway County Jail’s re-entry programs earn high marks in state audit
MURRAY, Ky., (KBSI) — The Calloway County Jail’s re-entry programs have received a 94% overall score in a recent audit by the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
The audit, conducted from Feb. 20-26, also gave Program Coordinator Deputy Jessica Childs a perfect score for record-keeping.
The jail offers seven evidence-based programs approved by the Department of Corrections, including classes on parenting, trauma and anger management.
In 2024, 242 inmates completed the programs, which are designed to prepare them for release and reintegration into society.
The audit report praised Childs’ facilitation skills, noting that she provided “great feedback and encouragement” to participants.
Calloway County Jailer Ken Claud said the jail is proud to offer the programs, which not only benefit inmates but also provide financial incentives for the jail. In 2024, the jail received $201,600 from the state for program completions.
Claud credited Childs’ commitment to providing quality instruction for the programs’ success.
