MURRAY, Ky. (KBSI) — Calloway County Fiscal Court has received a nearly $5,000 grant through the Kentucky Association of Counties Insurance Grant Program to improve safety at several county facilities.
County officials said the $4,968.64 reimbursement grant will help fund the installation and improvement of emergency eyewash stations at the Calloway County Animal Shelter, Road Department, Sheriff’s Office and County Jail.
Calloway County Judge/Executive Kenny Imes said the project will help improve safety for employees and the public while keeping county facilities in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
The Kentucky Association of Counties said its Insurance Grant Program helps counties fund projects that reduce accidents, injuries, cybersecurity threats, property damage and other insurance risks. Since 2019, the program has invested nearly $1.4 million in more than 200 projects across the state.
This year, 42 projects received funding through the program. Grants provide up to $10,000 and can cover as much as 80% of a project’s total cost, with a minimum 20% local match.
The Kentucky Association of Counties, founded in 1974, represents county governments and elected officials in all 120 Kentucky counties.
