CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Cape Girardeau Regional Airport will mark the launch of new nonstop service to Pensacola, Florida, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 6.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. at the airport, with the inaugural flight departing at 8:45 a.m. Officials said the event will include remarks from local leaders and a water cannon salute by the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.
The seasonal service, operated by Contour Airlines, will offer twice-weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Airport officials said the new route expands travel options to Florida’s Gulf Coast and strengthens the airport’s role as a regional hub.
Community members, local leaders and media are invited to attend the event.
