The Cape Girardeau Police Department continues to investigate after officers say Linard Thomas was shot and killed around 12:30 a.m. on July 14 near 417 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Signs of violence are still visible as several drops of blood scattered the sidewalk. Officers gathered to the scene and roped off the scene with yellow crime scene tape.

Thomas was shot and then went in a private vehicle to a local hospital where they pronounced him dead at 1:08 a.m.
