Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center hosts rabbit hunting class

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Visitors to the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center got the chance to learn the ins and outs of rabbit hunting.
This class was designed for all ages and experience levels and featured a variety of topics including firearm safety, how to hunt with or without dogs, strategies for tracking rabbits, and more.
Conservation educator Dee Dee Dockins led the class. She began rabbit hunting with her dad when she was very young, and she described why hunting is about much more than what you may shoot.
“When you look back on your hunts, I don’t think about the animals; I think about the experience, and those rich experiences are harder to come by these days when you have competition with sports and video games and such, so it’s really good just to be outdoors and to spend time,” she said.
