Cape Girardeau County drivers urged to use caution around farm equipment

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers to use extra caution on rural roads as harvest season brings more farm equipment onto area roadways.

The sheriff’s office is asking drivers to slow down when approaching farm equipment, leave additional following distance and give large machinery plenty of room, especially on narrow roads.

Drivers should also watch for equipment entering roadways or making wide turns into fields and driveways.

Authorities are reminding motorists to pass farm equipment only when it is safe and legal and when there is a clear view of the road ahead.

The sheriff’s office said drivers should allow additional travel time and remain patient when encountering slow-moving equipment during harvest season.
