Cape Girardeau County election staff to hold public demonstrations of voting equipment

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The County Clerk/Local Election Authority and members of the Cape Girardeau County Election Staff will hold public demonstrations of voting equipment.
It will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at the Osage Centre located at 1625 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau.
The public can view demonstrations of voting systems and provide feedback of the hardware and software components.
On October 24, 2023, a formal request for proposals was issued for a new voting system – election tabulation equipment, including accessible and paper ballot-based equipment. The objective of the project is to replace the current aging voting system with a voting system that is compliant with federal and state requirements as declared by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 and the laws of the State of Missouri that will enable the Cape Girardeau County Clerk’s Office to continue to conduct secure and accurate elections and remain in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Proposals were received from the following who were invited to attend the public demonstrations:
- 8:30–9:30 a.m. – Adkins Election Services (Unisyn OpenElect Voting System 2.2)
- 10-minute break
- 9:40-10:40 a.m. – Elkins-Swyers (Dominion D-Suite 5.17 Voting System)
- 10-minute break
- 10:50-11:50 a.m. – ES&S (Election Systems & Software’s EVS 6.3.0.0 Voting System)
- 10-minute break
- Noon-1 p.m. – HART InterCivic (Hart InterCivic Verify Voting 2.7 Voting System)
