Cape Girardeau County honors 911 dispatchers during National Telecommunications Week

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunications Week and honoring local 911 dispatchers.

Officials said dispatchers play a critical role in emergency response by gathering information and coordinating assistance between the public and first responders.

The sheriff’s office said the work of dispatchers is often behind the scenes but remains essential to public safety and encouraged the community to thank them for their service.
