CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Cape Girardeau County officials announced the launch of the Real Estate Property Tax Credit Program, which was approved by voters April 7.
The program provides property tax relief for eligible homeowners by limiting certain increases in real estate taxes on primary residences.
Voters approved two measures as part of the program: Proposition A, the Senior Citizen Property Tax Credit, and Proposition B, the General Homestead Property Tax Credit. County officials said a single application has been created for all eligible homeowners.
Online applications will open at noon May 21 and remain available through June 30. Officials said online registration is encouraged to help residents avoid long lines and speed up the application process.
In-person applications will begin May 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
