Cape Girardeau County seeks volunteers for Red Cross disaster response team

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Cape Girardeau County officials are seeking volunteers to serve on the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team, citing an urgent need for local responders.
Cape Girardeau County Emergency Management, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will host a Disaster Action Team training session Saturday, Feb. 21.
The training will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Emergency Operations Center, 3555 Veterans Memorial Drive. Lunch will be provided.
Officials said the county currently has a limited number of Disaster Action Team responders and is encouraging residents interested in serving their community to attend. Those wishing to participate are asked to register in advance through the American Red Cross Volunteer Connection website.
