Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department urges drivers to watch for deer

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department is urging drivers to watch for deer.
According to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department Missouri ranks in the nation’s top 10-15 for deer related collisions.
They say that in 2023 alone there were 3, 591 incidents reported involving deer.
Thats a collision every two hours and 30 minutes.
These incidents resulted in four fatalities and 420 injuries across the state.
Deer are most active at dawn and dusk so being especially careful in the early morning hours or in late afternoons will help aide in keeping roads safe.
